Who provides RomBoy
RomBoy is an Android app provided by Let Me Help. This policy covers RomBoy (package dev.romboy.app), this privacy-policy page, and information you choose to send us for support. For privacy questions, contact LetMeHelpDeveloper@outlook.com.
Information on your device
RomBoy stores the information needed to organise and play your games: files you import or download, library details and artwork, favourites and settings, game progress, saves, save states, and records needed to finish downloads or synchronisation. Local play can be used without connecting a RomM account.
Android's file picker lets you choose files or folders to import from, or a destination for exports. RomBoy does not request access to your contacts, microphone, camera or precise location. Notifications are used for transfer activity when you allow them.
RomBoy stores its managed data in app-specific storage. Connection tokens are encrypted using a key held in Android Keystore. The app is configured to exclude its private data from Android's automatic cloud backup and device-transfer backup. Files you explicitly export are handled by the destination you choose, which may itself be a cloud storage provider.
Optional RomM connections
If you connect RomBoy to a RomM server, the app stores that connection's server address, account identifiers and authorisation token so that it can access your library. During pairing, it sends the server a device identifier, device name, app version and requested access permissions. The server's sign-in page may use cookies and local web storage to complete sign-in; third-party cookies are disabled in RomBoy's sign-in view.
Depending on the features you use and the server's capabilities, RomBoy exchanges library and game identifiers, metadata, artwork, download requests, saves, compatible save states, file names and content hashes, progress information, and play-session times and durations. This allows you to browse, download, play offline and synchronise progress. A connected server also receives your IP address as part of the network connection.
Transfers go directly between your device and the selected server, rather than through a Let Me Help relay. HTTPS connections encrypt data in transit. RomBoy also supports permitted local-network HTTP connections; HTTP itself does not encrypt that traffic. The server operator can process and retain the information it receives under its own arrangements. If you use someone else's server, ask its operator about access, retention and deletion. Let Me Help does not gain access to that server or its data simply because you use RomBoy.
Google Play purchases and app quality
Google Play handles payment for RomBoy. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details. Google may provide order and refund information, store statistics, and app-quality or crash information through Play Console. We use information made available to us to administer purchases, respond to problems and improve reliability. Google's own privacy policy and your Google account settings govern Google's processing.
RomBoy does not include a separate advertising, analytics or automatic crash-reporting SDK.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request and investigate the issue, using our email service provider to receive and manage the correspondence.
RomBoy can prepare a support card containing app and Android versions, device model, graphics information and emulator compatibility details. It is prepared locally and copied to your clipboard only after you preview it and choose Copy. It is not uploaded automatically. Review anything you send and do not include passwords, connection tokens or game files.
We keep support correspondence only for as long as needed to deal with the request and related follow-up, or to meet applicable legal obligations. You can ask us to delete correspondence we hold about you.
This policy page
This page is hosted on Google Firebase Hosting. It contains no analytics scripts, advertising, tracking pixels or cookies set by us. When you visit, Google processes network information needed to serve and protect the page. Firebase states that Hosting uses incoming IP addresses for abuse detection and usage analysis and retains IP data for a few months. See Firebase's privacy information and Google's privacy policy.
Your choices and deletion
You choose which local files and RomM servers to use. Removing a RomM connection removes the app's saved access to it; the app presents choices for the associated local content. This does not delete your account or copies held on the remote server. You can revoke the app's token on that server and contact the server operator about remote data.
You can clear RomBoy's app storage or uninstall it through Android to remove its app-private data. Export any saves you wish to keep first. Original files, exported copies and data on a RomM server or another storage provider are not removed by uninstalling RomBoy.
We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising profiles. Where data-protection law applies, you may have rights to access, correct or delete information we hold, restrict or object to its use, or receive a portable copy. We cannot access or delete files held only on your device or a server you control.
We use information you provide to deliver requested support or purchase assistance, and rely on our legitimate interests in maintaining a secure, reliable service where appropriate. We may retain information when required by law. For a privacy request, email LetMeHelpDeveloper@outlook.com. You may also complain to your local data-protection regulator; in the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when RomBoy's data handling changes and revise the effective date. Material changes will also be explained in the app or its release information as appropriate.
